Itinerary: Baia Mare - Surdesti - Plopis - Tg. Lapus - Lapus - Baiut - Cavnic - Budesti - Hoteni Ocna Sugatag - Calinesti - Cornesti - Feresti - Giulesti - Sat Sugatag - Desesti - Baia Mare

Tour Description: This circuit offers you the chance to visit tourist attractions on the Mara and Cosau valleys, as well as those from another region of Maramures, Lapus County. The tour starts by visiting the wooden churches of Surdesti (1721) and Plopis (1805), objective that are situated in close to each other and are equally appreciated by UNESCO. From Tg. Lapus we continue towards Rogoz, where we can visit the wooden church (1561), another superb monument included in the world patrimony. From here, the path takes us to the Rotunda pass, to Cavnic and through the Neteda pass into Old Maramures.
The first stop in is Budesti, to the wooden church (1643). Also here, we can find out how a water mill works. Leaving Budesti, we can admire a superb panorama of the Mara Valley, Breb Village and Gutii Mountains. A traditional lunch can be served in Hoteni at a local pension or at a restaurant in the nearby resort of Ocna Sugatag, a place appreciated by locals for its healing salty waters.
From here we return to the Cosau valley and in Calinest we will visit the wooden Sonasi (1784) and Josani-Caieni (1663) wooden churches. From Feresti we proceed alongside the the Mara Valley to Sat Sugatag where we can also visit a wooden church (1642). Before crossing the mountains again, we make our last stop in Desesti where we visit the wooden church (1770) and its extremely valuable paintings. We the then return to Baia Mare through the Gutii pass.
