Itinerary: Baia Mare - Gutii - Desesti - Berbesti - Sighet - Sapinta - Vadu Izei - Barsana Ieud - Valeni - Calinesti - Sarbi - Budesti - Cavnic - Surdesti - Baia Mare

Tour Description: This is a more ample tour and it includes most of the tourist places alongside the Mara, Iza and Cosau valleys, as well as Sighetu Marmatiei and Sapinta.
Once we enter Old Maramures through the Gutii pass, we stop by at the Desesti church (1770). We admire the corss in Berbesti and we continue our trip to Sighet, where we visit the popular art section (The Village Museum) of the Maramures Museum. From here, we continue by making a visit to the Merry Cemetary of Sapinta. We then return to Sighet, where we stop by for lunch. We recommend the following restaurants: Perla Sigheteana and Siesta. Afterwards we continue to Vadu Izei and go up alongside one of the most beautiful valleys of Maramures: Iza. The first stop is in Birsana where we will visit the old wooden church (1720) with its superb paintings, protected by Unesco. Then we stop by the new monastery, a complex series of buildings built traditional models and techniques, a true jewellery made of wood and stone.
Our next objective is the Hill Church of Ieud (1364), considered to be the oldest wooden church in all of Maramures County. We then return to Ieud and Birsane, and we proceed towards Calinesti. Here we visit the superb Josani (or Caieni) church (1663), unique because of the paintings by Alexandru Ponehalski (1754). From Calinesti we enter the Cosau Valley and we can admire the wooden gates and the water mills of Sirbi and Budesti. Once we pass the mountains through the Neteda pass, we will stop by for the last time before reaching Baia Mare in Surdesti. Here we will visit the church, built in 1721.
