Land of wooden churches and glass paintings, of a folkloric and mithological richness that cannot be found anywhere else, Maramures County is situation in the North West of Romania, just North of Transylvania, covering a land of over 3,300 square km. Protected by nature and its majestic mountains on its South, East and West sides, and by the Tisa river on the North side, this region full of myth and history was left untouched by the influences of the 20th century.
Direct descendands of the dacs, the people of these lands have always known how to preserve their traditions regardlesss of the passing of time. The peasants still work wearing homemade clothing, and, while attending special occasions, they change them for costumes embroided with their traditional colors: white, red and black.
