Assumption is celebrated through massive pilgrimmage to the most important monasteries in the area - Moisei, Rohia, Barsana, Dragomiresti. Every community is represented by a large group of people, lead by children carrying flags embroidered with the symbols of the church. They are all singing religious songs as they walk towards the monastery where they venerate Ste. Mary, The Holy Mother of God.

Christmas : Celebrating Christ's Birth is a very special occasion in Maramures. From Christmas Eve and until New Year's, Maramures valleys resonate with Christmas carols, bringing out a fairy tale atmosphere. Groups of singers, all wearing the traditional costumes, herds of children carrying symbols of the star who once lead the way of the three kings are just a few examples.
