The Wedding : One of the most important moments on a person's life, the wedding is celebrated intensely in Maramures. Lads riding horses, usually open the wedding ceremony. The ritual has some special moments: the asking in marriage, the nuptial procession, the religious ceremony and the wedding party (which sometimes lasts three days and three nights, like in the fairy tales).

Funerals : Passing away brings out sad moments, but also some happy ones. A common funeral has professional mourners saying goodbye with intense weeping and tears, but when all that is over, everybody turns to eating and drinking in the memory of the deceased. A unique case is The Merry Cemetery, where on a carved cross, painted in bright colors, we find an brief ironic poem about the life of the deceased.

Countryside Markets : Weekly or monthly, in the most important villages in Maramures, country markets are organized. People from the neighboring villages come to sell or buy, tlk or share experiences.
